So I'm going to come in real strong. Okay. Ready?
0:04
Ready? Free
0:21
it's Hump Day replay the podcast episode one with God boy. And this is the show about the show. And it's a show about the daily talk show
0:37
I was gonna wait to be introduced to I
0:40
actually thought you were gonna say with jackpots Yeah.
0:45
But you hit me that you gave me eye contact. So that's why I felt like you call me in off the bench so
0:50
to speak if you name Well, he's from the Krishna Kona Breakfast Show. Hey, Miss nanny podcast. He's in a band relates to sounds and he has got his own podcast Jackie writes, God jack post.
1:00
Thank you Georgie boy for having me.
1:03
Welcome, guys.
1:07
There we go.
1:11
Live in studio sound effects of clapping actually preferred? Yeah. So what is I mean, I've just walked straight into this brand new podcast. Can you tell me what it is? Great question.
1:22
Yeah, it is a brand new podcast, I was meant to come out strong with what it was about
1:26
what everyone can learn together.
1:28
So Hump Day is a show about the show, the show about the daily talk show. So we're going to sit down with a grump guest each week and this week, we've picked already because we've got jack post, thank you and find some bits from the week of shows but also go further back into the archives and chat about it. Basically, that's sort of the idea you
1:49
play. We'd listen to grabs, listen to grabs.
1:51
Oh, I should do a big reset about what the daily talk show is. Yeah.
1:55
Because we're Thai
1:57
podcast becomes bigger than the daily talk show. Yeah. You supersede them and people go back to episode one. They're like, what's this daily talk show he's talking about exactly the newest episodes will have nothing to do with the daily talk show because you've outgrown them. Exactly.
2:10
And this is Episode One will probably get in the chat. So they'll be like random people. Quietly confident. Yeah.
2:16
Thank you for taking the charge, by the way of podcast charts. gets you more listeners. I never served through iTunes charts and go Okay, what's in the top 10 today?
2:26
Yeah, I was looking at it last night cuz I was like, how did people actually go through and just like, I'm gonna listen to this. Yeah, cuz you can say something the charts and you scroll through and it's like, you click on it. It's had like 85 reviews you like, how is that there?
2:38
Yeah. And it's got a if you go click on the top 10 and then go into it. It's got an actually top 200 and you can even break that down by category. Who is going in there and searching through like the 70s 80s looking for for podcasts that I bet the only people who go in there, the people who make poor.
2:55
We look to where we are on that ranking.
2:56
Imagine if this actually gets in the chats.
2:59
Yeah, a good flag. It'd be
3:00
great because the daily talk show I think has been in like once
3:08
after we posted like was on the show, I think they got in. We got it. Yeah, we got in for I mean 2030.
3:16
So you've had, you've had Hamish and Andy on the show, and both of those weren't as big as Ollie.
3:22
Yeah, thanks, Joey. Shameless is the other one that's like the top. Yeah, I think my most downloaded it's shameless.
3:28
Yep. We should we should mention I reckon it's worth mentioning as well that your overlords of the daily talk show Josh and Tommy aren't here to witness this podcast being recorded. That's why I can speak so.
3:38
Yeah. Right. What is the guy so we should
3:45
just ran Jacks here,
3:47
but I'm just great. Thank you guys. Mr. 97 is here. Hey guys with his brand new girlfriend.
3:58
You I like racing And lead together right? Yeah,
4:01
yeah, yeah. Oh it says me It says Sunni very schmo.
4:05
Are you telling me you just landed in Melbourne last night
4:07
last night last Sunday been here for eight days?
4:10
That's the first time you met
4:11
that was the first time we met. Yeah. Have we said what the daily talk show is?
4:18
Yeah.
4:25
Jack's catching me through this.
4:27
Do we call you Georgie boy? What would you like? Yeah.
4:29
Referred to as Georgie boy JB. Or George.
4:35
Whatever when you feel like I like Jay Bates, face to face good
4:39
minds. Gracie, baby. Is he
4:42
gay? No, I know isn't that
4:46
nickname in high school was JB as well. Great bison. So that
4:53
the comedian on the show?
4:55
Yeah. So daily talk show is a podcast by Josh and Tommy two friends from Melbourne, and I go on a tangent, unedited, for let's say an hour every day talking about business, creativity, freelancing, filmmaking, relationships, friendships, comedy, politics,
5:14
what you do everyday with your mates,
5:16
it's what you chat about with your mates. And so they're doing it every single day. There's a lot to catch up on. Which is why that's how Hump Day replay was originally created. I thought of this idea about three months ago, as a little five minute video on Instagram, and played out through the show which sort of goes back on the week and find some highlights and then it evolved and added in sketches and all this sort of stuff. And then it started stressing me out too much.
5:42
So decided to take on a full on weekly,
5:44
but how do we make it bigger try try podcast,
5:48
so you still gonna make the video or now it's just podcast mode. Good question.
5:52
I think maybe I'll make like a video trailer for the episode. That's one minute. One minute video. So this is Yeah, yeah. Okay. So this is Wednesday now. So yesterday I would have really
6:13
I say it's Wednesday now.
6:16
Talking about making Yeah, yesterday. Yeah.
6:19
Riley came out yesterday.
6:20
That's it. It was a good tries nyla. Yeah, you're really funny bits from the episode was out of work. Yeah. Grayson was 97 heat and Hump Day Ray podcast has got the exclusive rights to the first conversation with this couple run the banner. Okay. This is gonna be a great reset for all new listeners about the story of Mr. 97. And grace. Yeah. So sit tight, because it's about 45 minutes. Oh my god. Have you made it? I've made it. Oh, great. Fantastic. I'll just, I'll play it out now. Right. And then we can chat to the app. It feels very batula junk. It does. That's okay. All right, so this is the story of grace and Miss 97. It all started with the shameless girls putting a call out for any single ladies. This is my son. He got a 97 ATIA, he hates
7:13
Trump. He likes to cook Mexican food and he wants to take an eligible Melburnian.
7:18
on the first date of his life. We were inundated with hundreds and hundreds of women who wanted to go on dates with you. The problem was so many of them are too old. Yeah,
7:26
why haven't you yet sort of created Tinder which is
7:29
rather like meet them in person or
7:30
something last night, Mr. 97 when Tony's very
7:34
first date, he was just doing normal things like going out picking up food, that sort of thing. Don't say okay, so you started off at the supermarket. Okay. After a few failed dates, Mr. 97 was having second thoughts. I'm still I'm still unsure of whether, whether it's something that I want to push towards MPC I think my interests lie in what we're doing at the moment and my passion if I'm half in half, Not like it's not it's not fair
8:01
so once you get the backup hard drives all sorted
8:05
the show went on and grace from the grump squad first became a regular contributor to the show we got a message from grace
8:10
Yeah, we got one from Christ. We got a message from Christ
8:14
love the new series boys Christ wants to know his Josh still writing the book.
8:18
Grace just said Josh's club should have been called the call out club.
8:23
Mr. 97th Club, the life hack club required a show phone number. I've got
8:27
the Australian phone number. And so we'll be able to send text messages to gronk Yes, back and forth Mr. 97 racking up the expensive SMS. And the joke is that he's messaging grace a lot. Now, the deadly talk show phone number that was a nightmare.
8:44
I'm just gonna get personal. I'm just gonna use my phone number.
8:47
Now that grace had his number that we're constantly texting.
8:49
It's it's a new it's a new time where you can just be with each other but not in the same room. If grace hadn't done all the zoom calls. I probably would have thought she was a catfish too.
8:58
She then made her first Solo appearance on the show.
9:01
This is an official invite to 97th birthday party.
9:08
I'm afraid of doctors go
9:16
on the call. Guys.
9:21
Texting upgraded to facetiming
9:24
five hours. What do you talk about? You leading the conversation? Josh is testing learning. I could provide you with 100 questions, go through their Instagram. Find out who they're following.
9:36
So did you know Christ was a camp counsellor at admin rice campus?
9:40
Okay, and he
9:42
just being a absolute Stalker and
9:44
with the friendship built there then made it official.
9:47
Yeah, she's great. She's tapes of fun and so, yeah, we're
9:50
when daddy. Yes, boy.
9:56
Right, who are you to Mr. 97
10:00
Mr. Nice Ivan's girlfriend told me
10:05
he texted me saying that you might be on Jason page is that happening? They're doing a segment on
10:11
couples that haven't met before.
10:13
What are you gonna
10:15
face mating?
10:19
Well, I mean, the first part is getting to the airport and picking her up when she cries. I don't have my licence yet. I still gotta
10:28
figure that out. Grace is moving to Melbourne, from Perth coming on the 21st of June.
10:37
Exciting locked in with grace moving to Melbourne sales took awake annual leave.
10:43
There is something cool about you having a whole week together before we meet Josh and the most mature thing you've ever found. And gronk Rudd offered up his beach house for the two of them to stay in. If you were looking for a nice Airbnb down the beach where the two of you can chill for a week. I think I might be able Help. Next week you are having the first ever annual wave that you've ever heard. Because this is your first ever job. Yep. And this is your first ever girlfriend.
11:08
Yeah, a lot of
11:10
feelings. MCs. I'm so
11:14
sorry. 6pm is that what it is? Yep. Yeah, the same thing, so much excitement. And it's like, just to be able to play with each other. That's not the real strength of the sunrise brand. I drive him and more like, I was nervous for him at the end. I mean, I just I looked at a photo of him standing there, which Christ posted and a team with the flowers and I just I felt the feeling of what he might have been like, Oh,
11:40
here we go, guys.
11:50
Did you notice
11:56
guys I'm sorry. If
12:02
you made such a I mean, you made a huge risk coming here and it's crazy.
12:06
Yeah, a lot of people even mom was like, What if it doesn't work out? Like what if you get there? And you don't like him?
12:12
Yeah. Not even through bad intentions. But just like actually the chemistry of it it's
12:21
Yeah, it's good that you hey guys
12:25
it's like how long did it take for you first kiss because you already were calling each other boyfriend girlfriend. Right So you knew that that was coming?
12:33
Yeah. Well as soon as I walked out of the arrivals
12:37
straightaway away straight straight out of the arrivals but I mean we've been talking what three three ish months? Yes, I'm so I use three months till the first case and then Wow.
12:48
So and then adjusting braid there watching it?
12:50
No, I So Josh and Brady offered me a lift to the airport and they dropped me off and then I walked into the terminal and just waited
12:58
or they dropped you off from left Yeah. How does it get you back into Melbourne?
13:01
I drive
13:05
my friends was
13:08
like What is that for me?
13:11
film everything else
13:14
first there we go now the idea was going to go to W a film the whole road trip was gonna be like oh, this is it first meeting. Like this feels a bit weird like a lot yeah even when so they spent the last week at a beach house in Bulgaria.
13:33
Yeah, which they got a chest big leg air. gramme.
13:37
chance. Beautiful.
13:39
three bedroom, two bathroom and location. So they got that and straightaway Josh is going alright, we need to get on the hurts. What can we do? How can we get a deal? Just let him go. Yeah, but um, so how was the bait test anyway?
13:54
I was amazing. We had so much fun. So I mean, we did we did a few activities like we went to the drive ins That was fun went to the hot springs.
14:04
What else do we do? You know, walks and
14:06
things like that went to a few of the wineries on the peninsula.
14:11
And then and then we just ended up just chilling out.
14:13
Yes, just
14:15
a few genes
14:17
and his bass in your first boyfriend or nine.
14:19
I've had partners in the past. Yes.
14:22
Does he feel inexperienced to you or is it not? Where are you that he's never had a partner?
14:27
I mean, probably at the start it was kind of on my mind that maybe he was like, right at the beginning. Yeah, like it might be a bit weird or, but no, he's actually he knows how to be a boyfriend. Like a really good one. That's like this guy's dying. Yeah, I may need a little bit of like coaching things here and there, but that's just I think.
14:48
Yeah, what's one Oh, go for it.
14:51
So lying on the couch the other day. My legs are on nice and he was getting out to go get a drink or something. This is romantic. They're at the beach. So we're just chillin middle of the day is like Oh, go get a drink. Stop lifting my legs. Oh, you're heavy.
15:19
Say that at all.
15:23
You guys living together at home or?
15:26
Yeah, I'm staying at Mason's at the moment. And I'll eventually move out with one of my friends who's also just moved to Melbourne. Yeah, to her boyfriend,
15:32
you know, but that is that's a really similar parallels going with me and my wife here. And we had met already because we met in New York, but then I left New York, and we thought we were that was it forever. And then she came over for a holiday, but she really never left after that. And then we started living with each other, just while she was looking for another place, and then we've lived with each other ever since. So
15:58
we'll never move out. Did you Mate on a gap year,
16:01
we met on the Hamish and Andy gap. Yeah, really?
16:03
Yeah, we met in the green
16:04
room. Now a friend of hers was working on the production. And she came along as an audience member. And then yeah, then I talked to her in the green room after the show. And I thought she was with another friend of hers and I thought they were together. I thought that was her boyfriend. And later on in the night, I found out it wasn't. And so I've just been talking to her normally throughout the night, which is probably better than trying to go into
16:36
birth got sort of you've been in the business.
16:38
Why? Oh, ah, we'd already met so didn't have as much pressure on it. But I definitely remember going to the airport and to pick her up. And because we hadn't said we were boyfriend and girlfriend really because when we were dating in New York, even though we're seeing each other every day, we knew it was gonna finish. So we didn't want the openness and the heartache of Have it finishing but so after that two months about a month or a month and a half later she touched any Melbourne and we did the airport meeting and I wasn't sure if we kissing
17:14
that's so exciting.
17:15
It's very it was very cute.
17:16
So this is how I keep up with the show on Instagram mostly because I don't have the time in my day always everyday to get the show. And you guys are doing at the moment this for screenshots of the show that day, and you'll have one of Josh and he's like holding a shoe they have on their tummy and he's got a look on his face like he's screaming out loud. And then the city
17:45
politely.
17:47
Alright, see mafia.
17:49
Man, George, all the little grabs that we get from the shot. It's just George or I just smile. Yeah. And it shows how little we talk
17:58
because what it looks like Looks like the guys who aren't allowed to talk, but they can still have a photograph.
18:04
When he's scrubbing through the timeline to try and find the frames. It's like, oh, no something back there. And you scroll back. And it's may on the on the video for like two seconds and it's gone. Very hard to get.
18:14
And what was the theory behind having these screenshots on Instagram of the show? Because, I mean, it is a it's a talk show, and a lot of it is done in talking. It's very interesting the conversations you have, but it's not like you're doing anything wild. I can see in a photo like, you know, you Tommy's holding up two chickens, and Josh has got a slingshot. It's a lot of time. It's just you guys talking.
18:37
How did it start? Well, I mean, it's, I mean, we always test around with what to do on social. So like we've done at the moment. One of the benchmarks is sort of like take a task quotes, and so that's pulling out
18:47
14 quotes.
18:48
Yeah, three or four quotes from the conversation, which by the way, went out the door as soon as
18:53
the last week that's always
18:54
at your job. Yeah.
18:58
Yeah, so that's, that has been That hasn't happened. But yeah, I think it was just more of a different benchmark that we wanted to try to see. Because there are frames that you'd say okay, that would be great thumbnail. So like there might be two great frames of like us holding up a burger or something like that. Yeah, and that'd be great, you know, thumbnail but it's like, we want all four of us or all of us in a guest in the thumbnail so it becomes like a little Instagram post.
19:21
Yep. Do you feel like you should I always remember this clip from Sean MacArthur's Channel Nine TV show which I loved this idea it was short lived. You guys might might be too young to remember it. But he had a programme on children called McAuliffe tonight, which was his you guys know Sean McVeigh. Yeah, yes. It was his sketch show. But then he was actually doing real guests as well. And it was short lived. But on the first episode, he said, we need to make the promo for the show look really cool. So I'm gonna do some stuff here that absolutely has no context will mean nothing to you guys. But when people said in a clip on the ads, it will look like the show is Wild and cool and so then he got an inflatable shark he stood up on the desk and he got a golf club and started whipping the shark like it was a jet and he's like this now to you guys watching now this means nothing but when they show this in the promo, it will look like the show is wild and fun. That's what I should do with the the photo slideshow each day. And he's for no reason. Yeah, put a burger on your head. And yeah, put pickles over your eyes. That's a great idea.
20:27
Actually, we were talking jack before the show about your podcast, Jackie Road Studios. And how Josh and Tommy would just on your episode that came out on Monday.
20:38
By the way, I've hit that point in my podcast, only five episodes in where like you did with the video montage. Like Am I really doing this every week?
20:48
commit to this money for it.
20:52
That's exactly what I because he was saying that he just finished Josh and Tommy song on Sunday night.
20:57
Yep. And you say is what we're doing. Yeah, that's it. your podcast podcast is my new podcast five episodes old is I'll sit down with a guest, Josh and Tommy were my most recent guests. And at the end of the interview, I'll take something from the chat and use that to inspire a song that I write and record at the end of the episode, right? Yeah, yeah, that's what I thought. This is a cool idea. And now every week, my weekends are taken up with a girl I forget to write a song. And then I'm teaching myself how to record songs. So like using my home studio that I'm cobbled together to learn how to do it, and I'm very slow at it still. So honestly, the song that you heard yesterday, which is only the song on Josh and Tommy's episode is essentially acoustic guitar me singing that took me about 20 hours over the weekend.
21:50
You on a 24 hour live stream. Yeah. And you came up with a song in less than 40 minutes.
21:56
Yeah. And it's like your song. Thank you.
22:00
Yeah, and now I've given myself like a whole week to write a song. And it's and it's too long and because in 40 minutes people go, I will we don't expect this to be good. You only had 40 minutes to make it but now with a whole week, and because I started, like making them as good as I could for the first few episodes, I can't It's not like I can turn around in the next week and go Alright, well, I'm gonna put in 30% effort for this one just because I want for like my free time back. I feel like I've made a little trap for myself where podcasts I mean, I'm putting the work in at the moment. So if you are listening at home and thinking, well, this guy doesn't care about his podcasts. I'm not gonna listen. That's not the case.
22:39
It's honestly like my favourite podcast. I love it. Oh, but I had to
22:45
do a hump day because when I
22:50
heard Christian house song, at The Ballad of the kid, he couldn't watch the Simpsons.
22:55
Yes, I was talking Christian How is like Instagram would you wouldn't call him an influence. Just like instagram youtube comedian, and he said in his interview that he was the kid who wasn't allowed to watch the Simpsons. Yeah, because hey, yeah, well wait.
23:08
Mom didn't last watch it.
23:10
Yeah, I think it's more common than you think. And one of my best friends is we never let him forget that he was the kid that wasn't allowed to watch this. So the song was about it was called The Ballad of the kid who's not allowed to watch the Simpsons.
23:21
Yeah, which I've had that song stuck in my head since great You did such a good song, but I think all your songs are so catchy. Thank you. And yeah, but I had the same thought I was like, that one felt so heavily produced and I was like, How is he? Like, going into the studio? got someone to do a guitar solo? Yep, that sort of thing. All right.
23:43
Well, that Yeah, at the moment I am keeping it up. But if I fall in a hate by, you know, the seventh week you and I why Mr. 97 is playing on his phone.
23:55
I'm putting money
23:58
that's boring.
24:00
Any young man and I was just double checking something. I got a notification.
24:05
All right. Can you turn the mics off?
24:10
really well. I was actually interested to know jack, when the boys came in to do the show. How did you What's your go to greeting? in isolation? Like, shy girl?
24:21
Yeah, good question. Well, I actually recorded these guys a couple of weeks ago. Right. And so is it a bit of a stronger restrictions back then? I think we did the elbow to elbow.
24:32
Yeah, yeah. It's a good one. Yeah. It is very,
24:35
it's very knowing what to do.
24:37
Yeah, well, we should we say I don't even know if you meant to say we all shook hands.
24:42
I was like, hello. Yeah.
24:44
Yeah, I bet. I've gone for hugs.
24:46
Yeah, done. Hugs.
24:48
Hugs.
24:49
Yes. I'm not a hugger.
24:50
But I am a hugger. Outside of the current climate.
24:53
Yeah.
24:54
Oh, I love a hug.
24:56
Well, I got this grab to play. This is from shouldn't know which episode it sounds like. I just played this grabbing then we can talk about it.
25:06
JACK came in the other day jack post.
25:09
Yeah, I mean I'll say I've got it and I didn't post it, but I will today.
25:15
Can I watch it? Well, because jack will never jack will never stopped with a hug and I push back on it by being like I've been mates for a long time. I'm gonna always go for a hug every time he goes for a handshake. I'm gonna be like, my
25:28
Yeah, whether you like it or not, and give baby a hug. It sounds awkward and I captured one of the most awkward moment of this one.
25:37
gonna be okay, if there's one thing, it's Jackie
25:42
Josh Janssen so
25:46
I assume they're talking about the time they came in for the interview. Is that right?
25:50
This is this is ages ago.
25:52
All right, can you so I was down. I was watching this all unfold. Okay, so
25:55
this is pre COVID. So this pre show no restrictions. Why can't hug some So if
26:00
this was last year, I think okay, and so you you popped into the office because I think we were, we're doing an episode with you, I think so you came in or maybe you're just visiting But you came in and Josh went downstairs to greet you. And I'll give it it's a little bit of an awkward entrance Yeah, well,
26:18
I mean if we say what it is the person on the outside of the door can't really see who's coming down the stairs. Yes, like you guys can say app easily I mentioned but when you're on the
26:27
bar, you actually only get chest down
26:29
you only get chest down so it's already you're trying to like say Who is it? Is it Joshua Tommy the promos or is it one of the minions
26:40
and it's quite like it's a one person walkway when you're going up so it's hard to know what you're gonna go
26:45
it's a it's so narrow in there that I don't even think you could get your arms out to hug somebody. You'd hit the wall. So the saw
26:53
you'd have to do one up and then one down.
26:55
Yeah. He's doing he's essentially right like your hands up in the air too. Surrender. Yeah, go over the top of someone else to hug them like that. And they go, they go, they go and running around. I mean, I'm sorry, I'm not going to apologise for that.
27:10
But so i think i think Josh came down and I think you went for the handshake. Josh went full either around the time he was sort of like one arm around the time and the other around the shoulder. And it was just a whole awkward interaction where you're just not sure if you're going for a handshake and then into a hug or just yeah,
27:28
I'm the conditions of the whole life very narrow hallway. He's already got a power stance over me because he's standing on the stairs trying coming down the stairs and I'm coming up the stairs. I will never hug in that situation.
27:41
Actually, when I met Josh last week, I hug in that in that stairway.
27:46
Well, yeah, it's it's it is harder.
27:48
Yes, I do understand
27:50
but I don't want this is the show to think I'm a non hugger all around. I mean, as soon as we're out of restrictions up Come hug Ollie.
27:57
Great. Have you have you have you had someone come up to you and give you a hug?
Cuz you've got the coins that you're meant to give out and
28:09
someone I
28:11
know someone who knows you somebody who's come up
28:14
to someone, I don't know.
28:15
Yes. Okay. They know you through your pension and your Christian icon. Have they come up to you wanted a hug or say hi, whatever. I don't
28:21
think I've ever had a hug from a stranger. No, really. I've only had a handful of people who come up from the podcast and say, because I have this offer that if you
28:32
I mean, Joe Goggin.
28:36
I don't think I've ever had a hug from a stranger on the street. I'm a bad actor. So I find that difficult. But Hamish and Andy have this thing on their podcast where if you listen to the podcast, you can go up to anyone nervous on the podcast and say, Hey, I listened to the podcast give me $1 and we have to give them $1 I've only had that maybe three or four times Really? Yeah, we
28:57
would have had a hate had $1 on you.
29:00
No I've never had it
29:01
well I mean Wait wait Oh listen to the Hamish and Andy
29:04
until like right
29:08
no I never I don't carry dollars and I don't even carry wow cuz I'm tap everywhere yeah so then they made a they made a rule that if you see jack you can either have your BSB details
29:22
printed on a business card
29:22
and then he has to give you $5 or you can get $10 if you have one of the units you know if POS units that you people can and I've had that one really like on a restaurant came up and he worked at a pizza place and he came up with $10 showing on the screen
29:41
and he saw you and then did something like well yeah
29:48
that was a sushi it was just for the sushi.
29:51
Yeah, I actually got $1 pay which ones Oh, yeah in bar and like he is again using these guys back in 20 15
30:02
we actually have a new thing now. We've meant to be doing behind the scenes of the day. Behind the scenes of the cast, we have Hamish made us all these coins that are called IOU coins. And they look like a little $2 coin but they own it. It says I $1 so that if we don't have $1 on us and somebody asks us for one, we can give them the point.
30:25
How many do you have?
30:26
I only have about 10 would be $1 coins
30:34
$7
30:39
that actually, it could lead in nicely to this next graph I want to show it's about your your getting cashed out. When was the last time you got cashed out
30:47
a long time ago? Maybe
30:51
like someone like the Melbourne Cup day? I think we know Yeah, Dobby day we went to the mail. What's it called Flemington. You have to have cash to bet on horses. So I got cash for that. Yeah, but otherwise I'd never carry cash. Yeah,
31:06
I found that. Although it feels like now you've got something did you speak
31:13
to each of you taking money out of an ATM
31:19
interesting, so just play this check
31:22
post. I remember hanging out with jacket a bunch when I was in the radio days, he was always someone who would get 160 bucks every time like, anytime we'd go to an ATM, you'll get 160
31:35
Why?
31:36
Because it gives you all different types of notes.
31:39
That he says, right? Right. I did say he's wrong. I got I used to get 180 would be my standard. So you get 250s and you get 420s because I've I liked having 20s more often than
31:51
not would then not go 350s and a 10 and a 20
31:55
No, I like it. It stunk. You've 10 Yeah, she's really
31:59
Yeah, yeah, that's why I was like, why would you just get 70
32:03
you could Yeah, you could do that I'd 70 would be my choice if I didn't have enough housing, but he's taught that's I mean, that's 2012 That's a long time jack.
32:14
Are you are you the kind of guy jack to get money at whilst you're at the supermarket? Like whilst you're at shops, you might go
32:23
up and only use the self serve ATM. I haven't been to a cashier in two years.
32:29
That's a good call my cashier bank or like a bank? Yeah.
32:32
Like the the self checkout at supermarket. Yeah,
32:35
I don't want to say checkout chick is that I mean, we're living in 2020 then.
32:38
Yeah, so when you say you haven't bought some broccoli or whatever, and then gone and I'll get 50 bucks ketchup. Yeah, you haven't done that for a while?
32:45
No.
32:47
Has anyone ever done that? I mean, like
32:49
the broccoli. Broccoli.
32:56
I want to ask you, jack if you remember what the meeting was about.
33:01
It was actually when jack post and I became friends. Yeah, I remember Michael even my boss at the time, said like I had spent the day in a room with jack. And Michael. I was meant to be doing like writing stuff for the dirt, which was the gossip colada gossip site. I see why you will
33:19
find skills. I was like, No, Josh.
33:23
You haven't done any work today. You know what's going on? I was like, I was in a strategy meeting with jack post. I was like, and I'm offended that you think I was doing anything else?
33:33
The last day before you get fired? I relieved yourself. Yeah.
33:38
Yeah, I remember. I remember the first time I became friends with Josh and that day is talking about so in radio. There's pretty much all school holidays is radio holidays, as well, like your shows will go on holidays during school holiday periods. So but if you're a full time employer of the radio station, you still have to come in on those days and you pretty much got nothing to do. So yeah, this was one of those things. Whereas like December, we, the both the shows are off. Hamish and Andy is off this stuff that Josh works on is off. And we spent the whole day in a room. And I remember that what we were talking about, I had a book about memory, and how to improve your memory. And I was telling Josh, the techniques that you could use to improve your memory. And then we would challenge each other, you know, like, make a long list of 20 things, right? And if the person could remember that list, then we go on and try and make a list of 30 things.
34:29
Yeah, exactly what Josh is talking about. So yeah, I've actually got the list here that Sam's gave to Josh. Josh said, Can you write down 10 things? And I'll remember them. Yep. So I wanted to test you if that's okay. Yep, go ahead. All right. And then you can tell me what your technique was. Sure. All right. Number one phone case.
34:50
Okay. Can I have a little moment to push each one yeah,
34:55
memory palace
34:56
got it. To I don't interesting. I don't do the memory. Tell us real quick I'll tell you my back they
35:03
do want me to say the numbers Oh yeah, the numbers place to camera. Got it. Three a mug.
35:14
Yep, got it
35:16
for lunch box.
35:20
Okay
35:23
Yeah, okay.
35:27
Five measly ba
35:29
lunchbox isn't strong in my memory. I forget that. Okay, muesli bar for five
35:35
Yep, got that
35:38
six stick of cinnamon. Oh what a food best ones.
35:43
Yeah it's very specific
35:45
and now having my memory is actually having trouble remembering what my
35:52
six
35:52
Yes. Did you say six stick of cinnamon six.
35:55
Okay, that's hot.
35:58
Okay, remember that
36:00
That was the one that just struggled with it. Okay. Seven sled. Yep, got it. Eight sleeping bag.
36:11
Got that easy.
36:14
Nine phone charging cable on. Yep. Okay, I got that. Yep. And 10 frying pan. Got it. All right. So now what do you want made it? Did you want me to just say a random number or
36:34
I think we go easy sequentially. So now
36:36
you can do it. The technique I use. Yeah, latches The thing I meant to remember onto the number so you can go in any order better than the memory palace. Have to go in order. Like if you can give me any
36:49
memory palaces. You're walking through the house, you say, a fine case on the wall and then you slip over a camera, whatever. Yeah.
36:57
Got a mug in your hand and yet
36:58
every policies you use something you're very familiar with, like your own house is a good example. And then you walk in your front door and you'll put the phone case, say, on the wall of the hallway when you first get in, and then you continue on to the first bedroom and then you might say, the lunch.
37:19
That's not the one he was doing. He wasn't using that technique, so it's okay. All right, so I'll just pick a random number. Yep. Three, three. Is the mug. Correct? I need it. I need a Hamish Nandy correct. We can do. A lot of applause. I'll actually get the poultry. Number seven.
37:39
sled.
37:43
Right.
37:44
Sleeping Bag easy.
37:45
Yeah, easy.
37:51
Is this scribe people
37:52
listening to this? Does it sound hard? Because maybe remembering 10 things isn't that hard?
37:56
I reckon it's pretty hard. Okay. Very
37:57
well, I
37:58
reckon. I think the difficult is in being able to be like number six is yes yeah, I reckon you could list them off relatively yeah going through them but I think Yeah, yeah,
38:09
so what was number six? You weren't confident with this cinnamon stick? Yeah, well done. All right tell us how you do it.
38:16
Ah number
38:18
has a
38:21
like a way to remember whatever you introduce your item. So for number one you gave me the phone case. And then my number one is a hammer. Because one sort of looks like it could be a hammer the shape of a one could be a hammer. So I always know that number one is a hammer. Right? Right. So for to remember the phone case all I have to remember is a hammer smashing up a phone case. Okay, number two, sort of looks like a swan. So it's a swan. And I actually forget what number two is this
38:52
one kind of camera?
38:54
Yes. taking a photo of this one.
38:56
Yeah, this one sounds like the hammer is like smashing stuff up. So you just imagine stuff getting smashed up. This one sucks. Yeah. But that Yeah, you keep you keep going through it. So then six. So for the cinnamon stick six, sort of looks like a padlock, I guess. And so you like locking something up? Yeah. Which was hard to do with the cinnamon stick is it's hard to lock up a cinnamon stick. Number seven, kind of a seven kind of looks like a handle on a door. So I imagined it handle being open and there was a whole room of sleds in there. All right, Number eight is a racetrack so imagine instead of cars like it people in sleeping bags, like racing around the rice track. And then so there's 1010 things up until 10, right? Like that, that you can use to hook to anything you want to remember. And then the idea is you're meant to be able to keep going into the teens and the 20s and 30s. Say for all the teens, it's the same item. So it's 11 is the hammer, but now you add ice to it. So it's like a frozen hammer or frozen. It's a frozen phone case and you smashing up the Or at 21. All the 20s you add fire so it's hammer the Amazon Fire. And
40:08
what what did you learn up to? Well, in my heyday, I got 200
40:13
really bow shear.
40:15
So someone would be like 85. And you'd be like rice track
40:19
the bid the best I could prove it was. Yeah, rice track with volumes grown out of it or something. Yeah. The best I could prove it was a few times I did a whole deck of cards to remember it, which is a different trigger game because you got to remember the suit. But yeah, I get a lot of free time. That's when people
40:37
can remember the deck about the order of the deck of cards. Yeah,
40:40
I actually made that because whenever I have to go to the shops, and it's like, you got five things to get. Yep, I go in. And I say something else get that and then one of them just disappears from my memory.
40:50
Yeah. I mean, you could just run away.
40:57
Yeah, I could do that.
40:57
Yeah. I never. I never have used that memory technique for anything helpful, right? Only to do conversations like this where it's like, oh, this is cool. Watch me remember. It's a good place. Yeah. That's all good. Cool. I've never used it for shopping lists or anything. Do you have any other party tricks? Um, no, I can name all 50 American states. That's not fast, slow.
41:23
It's for those kind of parties where you got to like a lot of time. Yeah.
41:27
How many American states start with a? I think this for
41:32
Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas.
41:36
Maybe there's three eyes.
41:39
Arizona. Hmm. So
41:47
I started doing that because I saw on a friend visit friends episode, where they try and remember all 50 states and then people were like, you know, Rachel's new boyfriend walks in and they're like, Where are you from? He's like, Colorado. They already had that list.
42:01
And then rusty didn't get his Thanksgiving dinner.
42:04
Yeah, I forget that they really get stuck on one state to remember what it was. I can't remember
42:09
the same friends.
42:10
Oh
42:14
Wow, really? Yes. Me.
42:17
Not him not knowing like it's as bad as someone and not as like. Oh yeah. Are you a big TV watcher jack?
42:25
I mean, I've seen a show classic like friends of Simpsons Seinfeld
42:28
that you haven't even really seen son. I
42:31
haven't seen some.
42:33
Yeah, it's on Stan goes on. I've been
42:34
watching it
42:36
from the start. Like all my friends love Seinfeld.
42:38
Yeah. So what are you doing? Well, I guess it's more about like, of my era because when I was growing up, it was on on TV every night but you guys how old each
42:46
26 2012
42:50
he's young. I'm 24 Oh my god.
42:55
20 years old makes you don't seem 20 You seem so mature for 20 years.
43:00
My friend's son he was 2727 2727
43:04
could not be 27
43:06
he could be 27. But I want to do the opposite of me. I always everyone always gets that I was younger than I was growing up. That's what you want. Yeah, I had I remember having a haircut Once, when I was 14. And the girl asked me how old I was. And I said, 14, she couldn't believe it so much that she got the whole like, interesting team over it. Like, look at this kid. He says he's fought. Really.
43:29
I've had a hairdressing similar experience, but it was because I had no crown. What do you mean, like on the back of my head, apparently, like I do. I feel like I do have a crown. What do you mean no crown, but the guy was cutting my hair. And he's like, Mike, what's going on here? And he's like, try like
43:46
what have you done with it? And it's like,
43:47
What do you mean? He's just like shaving is like what I don't have a look at this. Is like this kid's got no crown.
43:55
The crab confused about what a crayon is.
43:58
a crayon is like the bit at the back. Hair start with like a spiral
44:01
with.
44:02
Yeah, the spiral. Yeah, yeah. So
44:04
where did your hair grow from that Donna?
44:06
de mon. Have a look. A little bit, Gracie.
44:09
I'm trying to think about I think mine just stopped.
44:14
Right You can you can say checking out everyone's crown. Yeah. Good crown.
44:19
Yeah, get in there.
44:20
Get it. What is it is it has a hit house.
44:27
Oh, that's crazy. Yeah. So hair dresses. They love to Yeah, get the whole crowd into Have a look at something weird. You're just dumped on you.
44:39
That's okay. Mason's on his phone again. I was
44:44
just trying to find a photo of someone with no crown surely.
44:48
Now. Tell the story about shocking hair dresses. When have you got shocked the hairdresser.
44:53
I always just got the hair because I have really long hair. Really,
45:02
really long hair? They spec Wow, you've got such long hair. I see how long
45:06
like dance my bum. I love that. I mean, I begged my wife. I was like, I love for whatever reason. I love the idea of super long hair.
45:13
That's what I was known for at school. Yeah, I'd be cool like long hair girl.
45:23
And then first year out of school, yeah, I got it cut short and I was like a big thing. And I donated it to my friends because I knew I'd chickened out otherwise,
45:32
and you reckon you could get it back to that length? Because then
45:34
I could, it goes really fast.
45:36
Because what I said, I said that to my wife, and she's like, well, you just can't i can't make my hair grow any further than
45:43
my hair grows quite fine.
45:45
Oh, yeah. And I've seen it now.
45:49
Yeah, what about sleeping like Eric and your wife would get annoyed at how long it is because my girlfriend's got very long hair as well. And she's dying to get cry. He's stuffing how long it is. Because whenever like if I'm spooning fling it up. It's like like throw it up
46:03
daddy's pillow that is something that air in your face yeah that's that's a new thing
46:10
right we have we almost have essentially have a safe word for hair in the face I just yell at he he
46:17
does that thing where she does scooped her hair up and like puts it under
46:19
I've been doing
46:20
hot spotting yeah
46:24
well, she's she's only a bit longer than what yours is now but I love the idea of it getting getting super long but yeah,
46:30
it gets to a point where it starts looking ready and disgusting. I thought I'll let her know
46:35
what to do because she likes she's kind of his showed a couple of times. And of course it's it's easy. Yeah, short hair, so she prefers it short
46:42
might take hours to dry. I didn't blow dry.
46:45
Yeah, would wouldn't it? I mean, I'm real thick. the only the only time the headdress has been surprised to me is I've got this little like tornado on the back of my head spin around. I don't know if I've still got it. I'm spinning around.
46:58
Oh yeah, it looks Yeah it does it looks like a hurricane from a
47:02
hurricane Mason
47:07
it does it looks like an aerial shot of a hurricane yeah
47:09
well so I mean every because I used to go get my head done it like um the places that train hairdressers so like by yes shoot yeah got like a hairdresser training facility and so I would get it done there and I'd always be an example of just like look at this like this is how you're gonna shave this or cut around
47:27
this you're a more difficult student yeah to find those places that are they honest cheapest they should be this head five bucks a heck Oh, no, that's the one in Fitzroy. That is risky though. Yeah, yeah, baby. Doesn't it still cost like 50 bucks to get the train ha
47:43
and they died?
47:47
Yeah.
47:49
It's 50 bucks cheaper here. No, but no. You pay for your hair all
47:54
the time like 90 and 120.
47:57
women's hair is a little bit Do you get to get it
47:59
No I have never called my hair okay I just got it like caught blood dried medical treatment okay wait keratin treatment, whatever they want to put in
48:14
full disclosure, I've had the the chemically straightened hair
48:19
went out when I was 19 and 20 I I hated the curls and I went and
48:25
cows well
48:30
don't get the girls he was
48:32
so it was like deadly straight like I looked like a Dragonball Z z strike. And I just you know I didn't like having it so curly actually like the curls now but at that stage I didn't like the curls. So I was trying to get rid of him. I went to this place on Russell street in the city where they do like it was I don't think this is racist like it's Asian hairdressers met all their clientele was Asian except me. And they were doing so they were doing the straight hair On May and I was like, Did stripe and I looked ridiculous. And I couldn't even like, how long does it last? It lasted to grows out Really?
49:11
shave your head.
49:12
Yeah, it's like it's like it's permanent. It's what we would reverse like, when they used to give pens in the 80s and make it curly permanently. But they perm this strike.
49:24
Is that what pens permanently kills?
49:26
Yeah. That
49:29
comes from
49:29
Yeah, I'm not 100% Sure,
49:31
I can confirm it.
49:32
I will say that I use there was this one hairdresser that I went to a couple of times. I wish I wish more hairdressers did it. It's a vacuum cleaner on your head. That sucks up all the small bits of hair. So when you know when you shake it
49:47
when you rub your hair after
49:48
your hairdresser, and you've got all the hair falling out
49:51
after your hair cut. Yeah, they've got like a vacuum and you probably shouldn't
49:55
Yeah, you probably shouldn't man surely
49:57
not after they're washed. washed out. Yeah. Right after you cut
50:00
Yeah, he's right. Like, oh, you get a little bit Yeah, can
50:03
you share stuff but this one they had they had a vacuum cleaner.
50:07
Have you? I mean, I'm scared to ask because you guys haven't watched Seinfeld and stuff. But have you seen Wayne's World? Yes. The, you know, the suction cup. Their first guest on their show is this guy who invented the suction cup, which is a vacuum cleaner that cuts the hair at the same time. That the sucking
50:21
night. It was great. No, I loved it. It was so good. I found quite nice as well. I had blown
50:28
strikes for my dad's wedding. When I was about seven. I did blonde. Yeah, that's a big tip. You've all done Why do it before the wedding. Just thought of a show for the photos. Okay, I was very young. And I also wore white Converse shoes. I
50:46
mean, one of my mates he was going to a wedding as well and he had like relatively long hair and the day before he decided I'm just gonna shave it off. Right before the wedding. I'm going to do a home shave. I'm trying to get my mind to shave it know why we shaved his head and then Here's like, Oh, I might just die a little bit blonde. And then you found out how much it costs. You're not paying 150 bucks because there's a shaved head and so then we just got this drawn blonde and we just drew blonde. blonde. Yeah, we just drew it on his hair and he went to the wedding. didn't look right. No, no.
51:17
Have you been tempted to do the shave ever? I when my hair is long, I've been tempted to go I wonder what I look like as a shaved head guy.
51:24
But I think only some people only did it once when I was 13 knits.
51:32
My mom used to say if you tried everything

I tried, like all the shampoos and stuff. Nothing was coming out at Netscape. That would have been a huge change. I won't be good with the chapter.
Before we finish up, I've just got actually cold rod. I got a bit of feedback rods, the guy Because that's when to say what he was how he felt about the whole thing. And so I just want to play the phone call.
Real quick, guys this rod. Yeah, Roger. Yep. Hey, man. It's George calling from Hump Day replay and the daily talk show. Elijah.
52:27

pretty much since Chibok started recently. Yeah, man, I love your segment too. Thank you. I could watch that on the on the Instagram what you posted? The replies. Yeah, a lot of fun. It's a great, it's a great channel. So you bought the house just before COVID you know, we, we took a bit of a hit that many people, many families did with the business bit of an investment and then obviously with the pandemic, it didn't go as planned. So we were hoping to maybe return some of the costs, and there were a lot of costs. So
53:37
97 Kevin's a stock guy? And
53:40
you know, like, I like to get into
53:46
doing him a favour to promote promote by getting paid help me out.
53:52
You know, that's what I was hoping for.
53:54
Are you happy with the amount of content that he was putting on Instagram and and that sort of thing.
54:00
knowing exactly what kind of magical
54:04
sort of off into the world and God gave me a lot of it took a couple photos at blackhat I did a walkthrough on an iPhone that was muffled but I couldn't really say much of the much of our property the repeat the poor you know my recommendation list and we went out and all the outline colours are crazy the whole point of why we gave out being a bit of a late really I think he was pickable in the way that he didn't provide enough content I mean the whole point of it was to
54:49
take a massive fine even still very effective.
54:54
I give him a knock it out. He goes down there right all I asked him to say with a couple videos or something on a regular basis that he couldn't even buy one this one, and the photo is much of a fucking selfie. So yeah, I'm pretty disappointed. I'm honestly short. I don't think I'm going to be sitting in my locker quite disappointed. That's absolutely not the contract. Do we have that? It's absolutely not because acting on it in any way you just use.
55:26
